South Korean President Lee to Meet with U.S. Business Leader on Economic Ties

Date:

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is poised to engage in a significant dialogue with Evan G. Greenberg, the chair of the U.S.-Korea Business Council and CEO of Chubb Group, aimed at bolstering economic cooperation and trade relations between South Korea and the United States. This meeting, scheduled for Thursday afternoon, follows a joint plenary session earlier in the day between the U.S.-Korea and Korea-U.S. Business Councils held in Seoul.

The councils, which bring together major corporations from both nations, focus on fostering trade, investment, and commercial collaboration. The South Korean council operates under the auspices of the Federation of Korean Industries, highlighting its pivotal role in the economic engagements between the two countries.

During the discussions, President Lee is expected to urge the U.S.-Korea Business Council to play an active role in deepening economic ties and enhancing cooperation. This initiative is seen as a vital step in strengthening the economic partnership between Seoul and Washington.

The collaboration between these councils represents a concerted effort to address and advance mutual interests in commerce and investment, reflecting the ongoing commitment to a robust bilateral relationship. The outcomes of these meetings are likely to influence future directions in economic strategies and partnerships between the United States and South Korea.
