Weekly Toll: Russia Launches 1,400 Drones and 66 Missiles Against Ukraine

Date:

President Zelenskyy revealed the staggering scale of Russian attacks on Ukraine, reporting that Moscow deployed nearly 1,400 strike drones, 1,100 guided aerial bombs, and 66 missiles against his country in just one week. This relentless bombardment continues even as diplomatic efforts to end the war intensify.
The attacks caused numerous civilian casualties, with weekend strikes in and around Kyiv killing at least four people and wounding dozens more. One particularly devastating strike hit a nine-story apartment building in Vyshhorod, in the Kyiv region, wounding 19 people including four children. These incidents underscore the daily reality Ukrainians face while their leaders negotiate peace terms.
Zelenskyy emphasized that such attacks occur daily, creating urgent need for enhanced air defense systems and continued international support. He stated that Ukraine must strengthen its resilience while actively working with partners toward peace. The president’s comments highlight the dual challenge of defending against current attacks while negotiating an end to future hostilities.
The intensity of Russian attacks may influence the negotiating dynamics. Ukrainian officials meeting with American counterparts in Florida can point to these ongoing strikes as evidence that Russia maintains offensive intentions despite diplomatic discussions. This reality strengthens Ukraine’s argument for security guarantees in any final agreement.
Russian military operations show no signs of diminishing as diplomacy proceeds. The sustained bombardment suggests Moscow seeks to maximize pressure on Ukraine while negotiations develop, potentially hoping to strengthen its bargaining position. For Ukrainian negotiators, achieving a peace agreement that ends this daily violence while preserving national dignity remains the paramount goal.
