A new phase of Trump’s trade campaign is underway as the president plans to issue more letters regarding trade and tariffs. At least seven countries will be named Wednesday morning, with more expected in the afternoon.
These letters follow Tuesday’s batch sent to 14 nations, announcing revised tariffs ranging from 25% to 40%. The Trump administration is using the threat of these levies to bring more countries to the negotiation table.
In a diplomatic meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Trump confirmed that trade pacts with the UK and China are in place. A deal with India is also close, with final talks underway.
Trump has postponed the deadline to August 1 but has made it clear this is the final extension. “There will be no change,” he wrote online, locking in the start date for tariff payments from trading partners.
