South Korea, US, Japan Boost Economic Ties Amid North Korea Security Concerns

During recent ASEAN-related ministerial meetings in Manila, foreign ministers from South Korea, the United States, and Japan reiterated their dedication to maintaining a robust defense stance against North Korea. This commitment extends to enhancing trilateral cooperation in regional security, economic resilience, and emerging technologies. South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi emphasized the importance of close collaboration on North Korea policy, aiming for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula through diplomatic dialogue supported by credible deterrence measures.

The discussions among the ministers also addressed various regional and global security issues, with a particular focus on developments in Northeast Asia and the Middle East.
