A United Front Against Trump: How Tariffs Forged an Eastern Alliance

Date:

President Trump’s trade war was meant to display American strength, but it may have produced the opposite result: a united front of Eastern powers. The recent SCO summit saw the leaders of India, China, and Russia exhibiting a powerful sense of bonhomie, a development that has been called a “sign of a new world order” by at least one concerned American commentator.
Van Jones, a prominent political analyst, highlighted the gravity of the situation. He called the joint appearance of Modi, Xi, and Putin a “very big deal” and a chilling omen for the United States. This visual evidence of a new power axis is being seen as a direct consequence of Washington’s increasingly isolationist and confrontational policies.
The summit was a masterclass in public diplomacy. Without a single US official in the frame, three of the world’s most powerful leaders sent a clear message of defiance. They demonstrated that a significant portion of the globe is prepared to move forward and build a future that is not dictated by American terms.
According to Jones, the US is now strategically isolated. “We are on the bad side of the triangle,” he stated, referring to the unfavorable geopolitical alignment the US now faces. The end result of the tariff strategy, he argued, is a world where it’s “everybody against us,” a situation that is unequivocally “not good for America.”
