South Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung to Hold Summit With France’s Emmanuel Macron During State Visit

Date:

Lee Jae Myung will hold a summit with Emmanuel Macron on April 3 during Macron’s upcoming state visit to South Korea.
Macron is scheduled to visit the country from April 2 to April 3 at Lee’s invitation. The visit will make Macron the first European leader to pay a state visit since Lee’s administration began. It will also be the first visit to South Korea by a French president in more than a decade and Macron’s first trip to the country since he became president in 2017.
During the summit, the two leaders are expected to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and advanced industries. Key areas of discussion are likely to include artificial intelligence, space technology and nuclear energy.
Both leaders are also expected to explore broader partnerships in science, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges. In addition, they may exchange views on international issues such as security on the Korean Peninsula and the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, reflecting France’s role as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
